TGIF Statement of Faith
The purpose of the Statement of Faith is to state the beliefs and worldview by which TGIF will operate. Formal acceptance of the Statement of Faith is not required for membership in TGIF. However, prior to being accepted, all members shall acknowledge, in writing, that they understand that the TGIF Statement of Faith constitutes the beliefs of this organization and that they agree not to contradict these beliefs. All members of the board shall be required to affirm, in writing, their personal agreement with, belief in, and acceptance of the TGIF Statement of Faith.
The TGIF Statement of Faith is as follows: I believe in God, the Father almighty (Isaiah 44:6; 45:5), creator of heaven and earth. (Gen. 1:1; John 1:1-3; Acts 14:15) I believe in Jesus Christ (Luke 2:11; John 20:28), God’s only Son (John 3:16), our Lord (John 20:28), who was conceived by the Holy Spirit (Luke 1:35), born of the Virgin Mary (Luke 1:27), suffered under Pontius Pilate (Luke 23:23-25), was crucified (John 19:20; Acts 4:10), died (1 Cor. 15:3), and was buried (1 Cor. 15:4); He descended to the dead (1 Peter 3:18; Luke 23:43). On the third day He rose again (1 Cor. 15:4; Matt. 28:1,5-10); He ascended into heaven (Mark 16:19; Luke 24:51; Acts 1:11), He is seated at the right hand of the Father (Mark 16:19; Heb. 1:3), and He will come again to judge the living and the dead (2 Tim. 4:1; John 5:22). I believe in the Holy Spirit (John 15:26; 16:7-8, 13-14; Acts 13:2), the holy catholic* church (Gal. 3:26-29), the communion of saints (Rev. 19:14; Heb. 10:25), the forgiveness of sins (Luke 7:48), the resurrection of the body (1 Thess. 4:16; John 6:39), and the life everlasting (John 10:28; 17:2-3). AMEN.
*The word “catholic” refers not to the Roman Catholic Church, but to the universal church of the Lord Jesus Christ.
We believe that because we were made in God’s image that biological gender was established by God at conception male and female. (Gen. 1:26-28, Matthew 19:4, Psalm 139:13)
We believe God ordained marriage between one man and one woman (Gen 2:18-24, Mark 10:6-9)
